Bug's Tag......

Ok.... so it took me over a week to get around to doing it, but I'm finally replying to Bug's tag....
Apparently, this is what I have to do:
1. Fill in your memories of 2008.
2. Link my blog to yours. (Or my profile, at least.) [I don't know how. Please assist]
3. Tag others, and comment on their blogs so they know they've been tagged.

~A good book I read~

First Day of Class.....continued

Ok. So its not as bad as it could be. Homiletics turned out to be ok, and Tests & Measurements seems like it will be fun. So, on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays, I will only suffer through the first half of the day.

I'll update again tomorrow with the reply to Bug's "Tag".......

First Day of Class

Well, the 2nd semester is here.
My Monday, Wednesday, Friday classes are Trigonometry, World History 2, Homiletics, and Tests and Measurements.
Tuesday and Thursday are easier with only Leadership and Desktop Publishing.

So far, classes are going ok. Though History could use some work... Tried to will the teacher into quiting early.... so much for Jedi Mind Tricks..........

The Upside to Dorm Life

Well, I'm back in New York. The tooth stayed home, but the meds came with me. The ferry ride from CT to Long Island was very smooth and relaxing.

I got back to the dorms to find my desk broken. I found this out the hard way when I went to move it over 3 feet. I was trying to do it the right way: team-lift and move. Someone else, on the other hand, decided to slide it some unknown time earlier in the break when I was in CT. ALL of the connecting screws were torn out and the surrounding wood ripped to shreds. So, I got a new desk and assembled it. Quite fun while on meds actually. (seriously, it was!)

Anyway, the title says upside to dorm life, not downside. The first upside is this: NO SMALL CAPACITY WATER HEATER!!! My shower this morning was nice and long, free from the fear of cold water. Back home, the hot water lasts 6 minutes tops. Here, I can take as long as I want (provided there is no one waiting of course)

The other upside is this: NO NEED FOR TV!!!!! Who needs TV when they can watch the drama go on in the dorms around them?? lol! People are stupid sometimes, and it can be fun to watch. ...from a safe distance of course...

The tooth is clear!!!

Well, that's it. Two wisdom teeth gone. The top one went with no complaints, but the bottom took about 35 minutes to extract. At the moment, I'm still numb. When the Novocaine wears off.....

The dentist let me keep the top tooth. The bottom one came out in pieces, so it has moved on to the Great Hereafter. Yes, Hannah, I will try to bring it with me. ...On the other hand, I might leave it here so that Mom still has a piece of me in the house (literally)...

Tomorrow, I go back to IBCo. I'll get on the ferry tomorrow morning, and 3 hours later, I'll be in my dorm room. ...Ah.... dorm life....

End of the Season

Well, Christmas break nears its end. Saturday, I go back to college. Communal bathrooms, a single mini fridge for the dorm, shared laundry machines, cafeteria food (though they do try), etc, etc... I enjoyed it while it lasted, but I must go back. Oh well.

Friday, I get my wisdom teeth removed. I've heard many... interesting stories from people. When I lose them, I'll update everyone. I wonder if it will be... draining...

The Gallbladderless One

Congratulations to Hannah on surviving her surgery!! Not only did she come out ok, but she got pictures too.---Even a DVD of the surgery!!

Now, as far as I understand --Correct me if I'm wrong, Hannah--she had been unable to eat for most of the past month. After much time with doctors going through tests, her gallbladder was finally identified as the source of her problem. The surgeon removed her heavily diseased gallbladder, and she can now eat again!

In comparison, my tooth problem is nothing. A diseased gallbladder could kill; a tooth is merely an annoyance.

....I want to see that DVD....

"Execute Order 66"

That was the infamous line spoken by Palpatine in Star Wars Ep3 that caused the death of countless Jedi. 1089 days after the Battle of Geonosis, the clone troopers were ordered to kill their Jedi commanders.

I just finished reading the Republic Commando novel Order 66, which (obviously) takes place during this time period. It was a very well-written book. I won't give any spoilers, but .... well, you'll just have to read it.

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

Well, the dentist had relatively good news for me. While I do need to lose two teeth (via surgical extraction), he can get me in next Friday. Even though this IS the day before I go back to college, at least it will be done in time.

On a much lighter note, I now have the insane desire to get one of those ...chair things the dentists have. It's like a recliner that has a built-in TV and light and water fountain and tray, and all that. It's COOL!!! The only problem is that it's worth several thousand dollars.........

Before you drill, check out the tooth

Well, I go in for my exam with the dentist at 11:15am tomorrow. Hopefully, I can get everything checked out and done quickly. Odds are, they will only look at the teeth and I will have to come back later for any procedures that need to be done.

I don't want to gross anyone out, so I won't post any pictures or give graphic details... beyond the fact that my lower-left gum is splitting apart like the great continental-divide.

Amazingly, I can still ignore the pain....sort of. I would like to request the prayers of those who might read this posting. Mostly I just want this fixed ASAP.

Toothache

Well, it happens to most people. The wisdom tooth has a problem coming in. Pain is prevalent while chewing.
But through it all, the is a bit of good news: the dentist HAS an opening on short notice!!!

WOO-Ho-----OW!!!!
The problem, it hurts to open my mouth too much, or blow too hard either. Makes trying to lead bus songs a problem.
.....
....
Oh, well. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

Until We Meet Again....

Well, almost all of my friends will be back at their colleges tomorrow evening. Everyone else will be back on Saturday. My sister goes back to school (high school) tomorrow morning. That leaves me with about 12 days of... just... quiet and work. I go back to college on the 17th, so I'm getting an extra week of Christmas Vacation. That's seven extra days of home-cooked food, a bathroom to myself, and NO LIGHTS OUT.

To all my friends not attending IBCo: good luck, study hard, and remember to keep God as the focus.

The Clone Wars

I don't know how many of you know this, but there is a Star Wars CGI series called The Clone Wars. It airs every Friday on Cartoon Network. Unfortunately, I don't get Cartoon Network on my family's basic cable plan...
Thankfully, StarWars.com has an online marathon of the first 10 episodes! WOHOO!!!!

Starwars.com, here I come!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome back, Comrade!

For Christmas, my parents bought me the latest game in the Command and Conquer series. Red Alert 3 (RA3). EA got a little..... creative with this one, and completely undid the storyline they had built in the previous RA games. Nevertheless, crushing the opposition beneath the treads of the Apocalypse Tank or devastatins bombing runs with the Kirov Airship are still fun. Now, there is a new faction to play as: The Empire of the Rising Sun (Japan). Of course the Allies are still present, with all the same goodies you'd expect.

Anyway, I just finished the Soviet and Allied campaigns on medium difficulty. I was up 'till 2am, but it was worth it... I think...
